Man taken to hospital after suspected stabbing on South Shields street

A man is in hospital after being found on a South Shields street with a suspected stab wound to his leg.

Northumbria Police officers were alerted by the North East Ambulance Service after its paramedics were called to an incident on Marsden Lane in South Shields yesterday evening, Sunday, December 13.

The 37-year-old was taken to hospital, where he remains today.

A spokesperson for Northumbria Police said: “At 6.15pm yesterday we were alerted by the ambulance service to a suspected stabbing on Marsden Lane, South Shields.

“Officers attended and found a 37-year-old man with injuries to his leg consistent with having been caused by a stabbing.

"He was taken to hospital where he remains with non-life threatening injuries.

“An investigation is ongoing into the incident.

"Witnesses or anyone with information are asked to contact police via the Tell Us Something page of our website or by calling 101 quoting log 711 131220.”
