Meet the '˜selfless soul' treated to a special Mother's Day makeover

A South Tyneside shopping centre rolled out the red carpet for one special mother.

The Viking Centre in Jarrow gave Lorraine Carson a day to remember with new hair, nails and clothes.

Lorraine, 48, from Jarrow, was nominated by her daughter, Nikita Carson, 27, in a competition run at the centre to win a makeover and a new outfit and accessories.

Judges from shops within the centre selected Lorraine from dozens of nominations.

Nikita said: “My mam deserves to be spoilt rotten. She’s always running around doing everything for everyone else and barely has time for herself.

“She is a selfless person and needs some well-earned pampering.”

Lorraine and Nikita started the day with a coffee and a consultation at Rosie’s Café with stylist Nichola English.

The pampering then continued with hairstyling at Glitz Hair Salon, followed by make-up by the team at Absolutely Fabulous and a manicure at Geezers and Gals.

After this the stylist Nichola joined forces with staff from New Look to create a trendy outfit for the super-mum and she was also presented with flowers from presented with flowers from Dolces House of Flowers.

At the end of the day Lorraine and Nikita were thrilled with the result.

Lorraine said: “I was in shock when Nikita told me I had won this competition. I would like to thank everyone at The Viking Centre for such a wonderful day, I am a very happy mammy and will be going out tonight to celebrate.”

Lee Kimber, manager of The Viking Centre, said: “Families are the foundation of our shopping centre and the local community. We cannot think of a more fitting way to celebrate our local family of shoppers than to provide a real treat for mothers like Lorraine and we hope a lot of other shoppers will be treating their mums to gifts and goodies from our shops and stores.”
