Aimee Scott has been named as her Slimming World group's 'Miss Slinky' after losing 4st.

Aimee Scott says she is now looking forward to this year’s Christmas party after shedding four stones and slimming down from being a size 16 to a size eight.

The 26-year-old has been named as ‘Miss Slinky’ 2016 for the Charles Young Slimming World group after being chosen by her fellow slimmers.

Aimee, who joined Slimming World in August, said: “I was already really looking forward to this Christmas and finally feeling comfortable enough in my own skin, socialising with my friends and perhaps finally wearing the outfits I always dreamed of.

“Winning the title of Miss Slinky means I have even more to celebrate and I know this festive season will be even more special.”

Slimming World’s annual Miss Slinky competition recognises those female members who have changed both inside and out by becoming healthier, slimmer and more confident – and look great in their party dress.

Aimee, from South Shields, added: “When I was bigger I often felt quite unhappy. I didn’t like what I saw when I looked in the mirror, I hated shopping for clothes and I felt self-conscious most of the time.

“While sometimes it’s still hard to remember that the slim woman in the mirror is me, things are completely different now and I feel much more confident than I used to.

“Being voted for by the other people in the group is lovely because it’s thanks to them that I’ve been able to lose the weight that I have.”

Aimee followed the organisation’s Food Optimising healthy eating plan and joined exercise classes to lose the weight.

Claire Ball, who runs the group at the Charles Young Centre, in Talbot Road, South Shields, said: “As Aimee shows, whether you’ve got a little or a lot of weight to lose, slimming down can make a big difference to how you feel about yourself and really boost your confidence.

“She’s happier, healthier and fitter than ever. The group love hearing about how much more fun her life is with her little boy and the recipes she enjoys every week.

People might be put off joining a slimming group just before Christmas, but taking that first step if you’re unhappy about your weight could be the best gift you give yourself.

The group meets at the centre on Thursdays 9.30am and 11.30am. For details call 07903612121.
