MEPs condemn Brussels attacks


Emergency services were scrambled to Zaventem airport at 8am today, following two explosions within its departure area.
A third blast was reported at Maalbeek metro station.


The explosions, believe to be 'suicide attacks' has left dozens killed and many more injured.

Hide AdMEPs from across the region have spoke of their horror over the attacks.
North East UKIP MEP Jonathan Arnott said: “This is a terrible attack, killing and maiming innocent people. My heart goes out to them and I hope that those directly and indirectly involved in causing this outrage are quickly brought to justice.
“These incidents highlight the dangerous times in which we live but we must not be cowed down by these attacks on our society.”


Labour MEP Paul Brannen
Paul Brannen MEP said: "These are horrible and appalling events. I was voting in a committee when the news came through and while acknowledging the events with a minutes silence we carried on with our work. The best response to such attacks on our democracy is to continue the business of the parliament along with our colleagues from across the European Union.

Jude Kirton-Darling MEP said: "I am shocked and horrified at the events of this morning. I am in Canada with a trade delegation from the European Parliament but can confirm that everyone in our office is safe and well.


"Our thoughts are with the people affected at this terrible time and offer our solidarity to them."
