Metro line closure set to hit South Tyneside commuters - where, when and who it impacts
A line closure on the Tyne and Wear Metro will impact travellers later this month.
The Tyne and Wear Metro has announced a line closure will hit South Tyneside commuters.
After the bank holiday Monday weekend, a line closure will impact a major part of the service on Sunday, May 31.

The closure will hit morning services between Pelaw and South Hylton. This will directly impact service users in Boldon as well as those looking to head further south towards Sunderland.
Nexus, the company which runs and operates the Metro, say the closure is to make way for Network Rail improvement work.
The first train from Pelaw towards South Hylton is expected to run at 11.14am while the first train from Sunderland will depart Park Lane at 11.45am.
The first train starting from South Hylton will leave the station at 11.52am.
A replacement bus service, numbered 901, will be running between South Hylton and Heworth calling at all stations in both directions. The locations of these replacement stops can be found on the Nexus website.
The travel operator is also warning journeys will take longer for those looking to use this stretch of the line. Anyone hoping to use the 901 bus should leave additional time to make their trip.
This work has been included in the list of modernisation work by the team behind the Metro. This project includes the replacement and refurbishment of signalling cables, bridges, points motors and more.
The modernisation work has already seen 65km of track renewed or refurbished across the system.
