Missing South Shields 11-year-old found safe
An 11-year-old girl who did not return home from school in South Shields this afternoon has now been found safe and well, police have confirmed.
Earlier this evening police launched an urgent appeal to find missing school girl Kaitlyn Todd who had not been seen since the end of school today.
Northumbria Police carried out a search for the schoolgirl and asked for the public for their help to find her.

Hide AdThe force has now confirmed the youngster has been found safe and thanked the public for their help.
A spokesman for the force said: "Many thanks to the public for your response in helping us to locate missing Kaitlyn.
"She is now safe and well at home with her family."
