And after receiving feedback from customers she has introduced the new concept of ‘a quiet chair experience’.

This means if clients aren’t interested in talking or chatting, but would like to instead read a book or have some pampering time, they don’t have to worry about interacting socially.

Miss Lideford, from Sunderland, is a qualified hairdresser, make-up artist, bridal specialist, nail technician, hair extension technician and eyelash technician.

She said: “I have been a mobile hairdresser for a number of years and having a base is the next level for me.

“My mam was a hair and make-up artist, working on catwalk shows and TV shows.

“I kind of followed in her footsteps when it come to the make-up. At first I didn’t think I would like hair as much, but I started courses and absolutely loved it.

“I went back to college and did the hairdressing and went from there.

“After getting feedback from my customers, I decided to introduce the quiet chair – this way the client and the stylist have a mutual understanding that they wish the stylist to keep conversation to a minimum.

“This is great if people hate the idea of small talk, maybe feel a bit shy or awkward and perhaps don’t want to be rude so feel pressured to talk.

“In my experience, a lot of clients like to use time in a salon as a social experience where they feel pampered and relaxed rather than be engaged in chitchat.”

The 26-year-old said: “Being based in a salon has always been something I wanted to do, and being given the chance at Magenta is like a dream come true.

“I’ll still be doing my mobile hairdressing, but having a base will make things a lot easier.”
