The team of nine - based on the Monkton Business Park at Hebburn - has achieved a 30% increase in turnover compared with the same time last year, while shipments have increased by 54%.

And the branch is expecting to see increased success in the automotive sector thanks to its Europa’s MBX (Money Back Express) service.

Europa launched the service in 2017, offering customers a full refund of freight charges if the firm fails to deliver to the defined and agreed transit time.

Branch manager Mat Jobson said: “We couldn’t be happier with these figures, which are the result of a lot of hard work by the team.

“They reflect both the growing reputation of Europa as one of leading logistics providers in the country and the industrial confidence of the region we serve.

“The MBX service has been a big hit with new and existing customers because it provides guaranteed efficiency, which gives Europa a great advantage.

“The automotive sector is hugely important to our business and I’m pleased we’ve been able to expand our customerbase whilst providing the best possible service.”

The branch, whose 2017 was the most profitable year in its 23-year history, has welcomed two new account managers in the past six months, and is looking to hire an additional account manager and sales operator.

Sales director Dionne Redpath said: “These figures clearly show that the team has made some brilliant achievements so far this year, which sets us in great stead for the rest of the year.

“It’s fantastic to see the business going from strength to strength, and we’re looking forward to building on this success by expanding our team in the North East in the coming months.

“We welcome any enquiries about applications from people passionate about customer service and delivering products to a diverse marketplace.”

The success of the branch coincides with the publication of the North East England Chamber of Commerce’s Quarterly Economic Survey, which showed North East businesses have grown their export sales at the fastest rate in more than 11 years.

Europa Worldwide employs 650 people across 12 UK sites and Hong Kong. The firm also provides specialist air and sea, warehouse and showfreight services.
