Motorcyclist left with 'life-threatening' injuries after late-night collision in South Shields

A motorcyclist has been left fighting for his life in hospital after a collision in South Shields.

Police were called to Highfield Road, at around 11.50pm, yesterday, to reports a man had come off a red Kawasaki ZX636 A1P motorbike.

The 28-year-old was treated by paramedics at the scene before being taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

He is currently in stable but critical condition.

It is believed no other vehicles were involved in the condition.

Traffic police are now urging anyone with information on the collision to contact them.

They are keen to speak to anyone who saw what happened or anyone who believes they may have seen the motorcycle earlier that evening.

Officers are particularly keen to speak to anyone who has a dash cam and may have captured the collision or the moments before it took place.
