Mystery remains over South Shields goalkeeper's career

You may remember that reader Jackie Williams featured in the page recently seeking information about her dad Harry Jackson's goalkeeping days with South Shields.

Jackie had photos of her dad from the 1950s – prompting the club’s vice president, historian and archivist, Bob Wray, to dig through his own archives to try and find out more about Harry’s time with the club.

But despite his research and extensive knowledge of South Shields FC, Bob has so far drawn a blank.

So if anyone can help solve the mystery of Harry’s time between the sticks for Shields, then please get in touch.

In the meanwhile, Bob has sent me a photo of the Shields first team from the 1951/52 season, which I’ve included along with some archive pictures featuring the club’s younger players from over the years.
