New hot food takeaway bid launched for South Shields' King Street

Plans submitted for new hot food takeaway in King Street in South Shields.
Plans have been submitted for a new hot food takeaway in a major shopping street in South Shields.
South Tyneside Council's planning department has received an application for 54 - 56 King Street in the town's Beacon and Bents ward.
Applicant Tiny Home Investments Ltd is seeking permission to change the use of the ground floor commercial unit to a hot food takeaway, along with the erection of a flue to the rear.
Proposed ground floor plans include a seating area and a serving area, along with a kitchen and store, as well as a separate hall entrance to a residential use above.
A submitted planning application lists proposed opening hours for the hot food takeaway and confirms the development, if approved, would create two full-time jobs and one part-time role.
A noise impact assessment was also submitted with the planning application to "determine whether nearby residents are likely to suffer a loss of amenity as a result of noise".
It was noted that "subject to the implementation of suitable mitigation and confirmation of the final system noise data, it is considered that a low-impact outcome could be achieved."
A decision on the planning application is expected following a council consultation exercise.
