Newcastle issue statement on Daryl Janmaat's 'hand injury'
The Gazette yesterday revealed that Janmaat would miss the match, having broken two fingers when he punched the dressing room wall in frustration at the St Mary's Stadium last weekend.
Relegation-threatened Newcastle were beaten 3-1 by Southampton.

Hide AdJanmaat had limped off the field with a groin problem after slipping in the build-up to Southampton's second goal.
The club statement read: "Newcastle United defender Daryl Janmaat is currently undergoing treatment for a groin injury suffered during the game against Southampton on Saturday.
"The 26-year-old defender has also undergone treatment for a hand injury sustained the same day.
"Janmaat will be unavailable for the club's forthcoming fixture against Swansea at the weekend. He will be reviewed further next week and the club will provide an update in due course."
The Gazette today reported that Janmaat was also doubtful for the club's relegation run-in.
