The Magpies must wait until next week to find out their schedule after their relegation to the Championship.

But after today's top flight fixtures were revealed, it seems they could be at home on the two big festive dates/

Sunderland have away games on both Boxing Day (at Manchester United) and New Year's Eve (Burnley) which opens the door for Newcastle to be at home on both dates.

The Premier League and Football League would have to work together at some point to avoid clashes over dates, with the two North East rivals usually unable to play at home on the same weekend because of policing issues.

Rafa Benitez and his team will find out their fixtures on June 22, with the Championship season set to kick off a week earlier than the Premier League, on August 6.
