Captain Jamaal Lascelles informed the media that the squad would not be talking in the mixed zone.
Their refusal to do interviews is understood to relate to the bonus dispute.
Asked about the players refusal to speak, United manager Benitez said: "When things are not going well off the pitch, you can see a reflection."
The new Premier League campaign kicks off on August 11.
