Newcastle to reveal new captain AND No9 at St James's Park ahead of season-opener

Rafa Benitez revealed that the announcement will be made by the club's website ahead for Friday night's Championship season-opener against Fulham at Craven Cottage.

Speaking on BBC Radio Newcastle, Benitez said the identity of the new captain was "not rocket science".

Previous captain Fabricio Coloccini left United this summer.

Newcastle are also without a No9 following the departure of Papiss Cisse last month.

Aleksandar Mitrovic and Dwight Gayle are the obvious candidates for the revered shirt.
