Newcastle United are reported to be weighing up a move for highly-rated Walsall left-back Rico Henry.

The former Sunderland AFC target is reported to be a transfer target for Rafa Benitez, as he looks to add to his squad ahead of the new Championship season.

Birmingham-born Henry started his career at the Bescot Stadium and has worked his way through the club’s youth system before breaking into the first team, making 44 appearances last season, scoring three goals.

An England Under-19 international, the 18-year-old has two years left on his existing contract at Walsall.

He has also attracted interest from the likes of Sunderland, Arsenal, Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur, Leicester City, Watford, Brighton & Hove Albion and Hull City.
