We have plenty of iconic and talented individuals to come from the North East, from football legends to stars of the music industry.
Here, we take a look at the celebrities at the beginning of their careers.
5. Ant and Dec
Ant and Dec met while starring in Newcastle-based children’s series Byker Grove. They have gone on to become the nation’s most loved presenting duo, hosting the likes of I’m A Celebrity and Britain's Got Talent.
6. Sting
Wallsend-born Sting found fame in the late 70s, fronting The Police before embarking on a solo career. He is highly regarded as one of the best musicians of all time, and has been inducted into the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
7. Vicky Pattison
Vicky Pattison first arrived on our screens as part of the original Geordie Shore line up. After leaving the show, she established herself as a presenter, podcast host and author. She has also appeared on other reality shows, winning I’m A Celebrity in 2015.
8. Chris Ramsey
Chris became a well-known comedian after his debut show Offermation in 2011. He went on to appear in the BBC show, Hebburn. He is now a presenter and podcast host alongside his wife Rosie.
