Reports that a lorry has shed its load on the A1M at Washington appear to be false. Traffic officers searching the area have not found anything of note and are searching further afield.

TYNE AND WEAR METRO - last update 1.45pm

There is a gap in service of up to 15 mins to trains running between Pelaw and South Hylton due to a train being withdrawn..
