Our Jarrow care home is making sure that no one spends Christmas alone this year

A Jarrow care home is helping tackle isolation and loneliness this Christmas.

Palmersdene Care Home, on Grange Road West, in Jarrow, is inviting older people, including armed forces veterans, to join in their Christmas Day celebrations this year.

Staff at the home have organised a fun day of Christmas cheer for older people who may find themselves alone this Christmas.

Guests are invited for Christmas lunch and to take part in festive activities, such as games and sing-alongs - all free of charge.

Megan Graves, Care Home Manager at Palmersdene, has highlighted how tough this time of year can be for members of the public who find themselves alone during the festive season.

She said: “Christmas can be a difficult time for those who find themselves alone, and at our home we believe nobody should feel isolated during the holidays.

“We’re opening our doors on Christmas Day to welcome a few members of our local community to join us for a festive lunch, companionship, and a day of warmth and laughter.

“If you or someone you know would enjoy some company this Christmas, we would be delighted to share the day with you.”

The invitation follows Palmersdene recently achieving Veteran Friendly Framework (VFF) status.

This milestone recognises the care home’s ongoing commitment to providing exceptional care to the Armed Forces community.

If you or someone you know would like to join the residents and staff at Palmersdene this Christmas Day, then call the home on: 0800 0854179.
