Pensioner who went missing after last seen getting off bus reunited with family by police

Police who launched an appeal to find a 75-year-old after he went missing after getting of a bus have sent their thanks after he was found safe and well.

Durham Constabulary asked for help to find Norman Haswell, who is from the Great Lumley area, after he was last seen leaving a number 4 Go North East service at Heworth bus station in Gateshead yesterday morning, Tuesday, October 27.

The force, which had said it was becoming increasingly concerned for his welfare, has now said he has been found safe and well near to the bus station.

It came thanks to the information and photo it shared as officers worked to trace him.

A spokesperson said: “We’d like to say a huge thank you to the member of the public who recognised Norman from our Facebook appeal, and alerted our colleagues at Northumbria Police.

“He is now being taken home to be reunited with his family.”
