Storm Francis has brought heavy rain to South Tyneside after an initially bright start to the week.

Our photographer Stu Norton was out and about in the borough capturing these sunnier scenes on Monday, August 24, before the downpours of Storm Francis hit.

From surfing lessons at Sandhaven Beach in South Shields to enjoying a coffee on the seafront, many people made the most of the good weather while it lasted.
