15 businesses in South Tyneside which are supporting families hit by free school meal suspension during half-term

South Shields businesses have rallied around to support children who may go hungry during half-term after Government ruled not to extend the scheme.

Last week, a Labour motion calling for the free meals scheme to be extended over school holidays until Easter 2021 was defeated by 261 votes to 322 in the Commons – with five Conservative MPs rebelling to vote with the Opposition.

Despite the struggling climate the Covid-19 crisis has caused the hospitality industries, businesses across South Tyneside are doing what they an to ensure no child goes hungry during the half-term holidays.
