12 striking drone pictures showing South Shields from the sky

Eyes to the skies! A South Shields photographer has captured some fantastic views of the town using a drone.

Dad-of-two Ian Ritchie has only recently started taking pictures of his home town after buying the kit last year. The striking pictures really do show the best of South Shields and the wider borough, with views including the seaside, Cleadon Mill, Ocean Beach Pleasure Park and some of our green spaces. Check out the photographs in our round-up, and see if you can spot your favourite local view.
