15 pet paw-traits drawn by South Shields children - can you spot your picture?

South Shields youngsters have been drawing pictures of their beloved pets – alongside rainbows – to brighten up their days in lockdown.

Last month, Willows Cat Adoption Centre, in South Shields launched its ‘pet pawtrait’ competition to keep little ones occupied while they stay at home during the coronavirus outbreak.

Despite interest in adopting cats being higher than ever during the lockdown, the shelter is currently closed to protect staff and volunteers in line with Government guidelines.

But the team is running a series of art and craft competitions to keep kids smiling during these uncertain times.

They received around 30 entries from children and their families - here’s a few of our favourites.
