Chris and Rosie Ramsey reveal honesty is key to their success as they discuss podcast and new book on Saturday Kitchen

Rosie and Chris Ramsey were the national cooking show’s special guests on September 5 as it aired its first live show since the coronavirus lockdown.

The pair were there to discuss the success of their award-winning Sh****d. Married. Annoyed podcast, which is the basis of their new book.

With a new episode released each week, ‘S*****d. Married. Annoyed.’ discusses the everyday dramas of parenting, marriage and life in general.

It has had millions of streams to date and has won honours including the Best Podcast prize at the Global Awards earlier in 2020.

Now their book has officially been released and is on sale in bookshops and online retailers such as Amazon, following a huge demand for pre-sale copies.

Discussing the success of the podcast on Saturday Kitchen, Chris said they have been blown away by the response from fans, with the podcast racking up 42 million downloads to date.

Chris, 34, said: "We have no idea why people enjoy it so much.

“We put so much pressure on ourselves to sit down and do it and when we finish every recording of the podcast we go, ‘Was that good?’ We don’t know!

"We listen to it back on the Thursday before it goes out and we both go, ‘Ah it was alright actually!’”

Asked why they think it has been such a hit, Rosie said: “I think its honesty.

"I just think we’re very honest about life. It makes you feel a bit better, I think.”

But Chris, who is the host of new talent show, Little Mix The Search – due to be aired on BBC One later this year – revealed that writing the book had been a challenge for the couple.

He said: “It felt like actual work. There was a lot of laptops being slammed and storming out of rooms.

“It was a hard process.”

Chris, who last year reached the semi-finals of Strictly Come Dancing, had been due to start his 2020 stand-up tour just as lockdown hit.

Rosie and Chris had also been due to go on a UK Sh***ed. Married. Annoyed. tour before the pandemic, which has been postponed until 2021.

The nationwide run, includes two sell-out shows at the Utilita Arena in Newcastle and will kick off with a sold-out performance at Wembley Arena.

Chris said: "We didn’t expect the podcast to do as well, didn’t expect the book to do as well and then we added the tour and it sold out almost instantly.

“We had a big venue in London and then added Wembley Arena and that sold out in a day which was amazing.

"Wembley was supposed to be at the end of the tour, but with all the artists rescheduling it’s now the first day of the tour!

"That’s going to be hugely terrifying [but] we can’t wait, it’s going to be amazing.”
