S*****d. Married. Annoyed, which came out on Sunday, September 3, rocketed to number one on the influential book sales chart – described as the “most accurate and comprehensive estimation of book sales in the country”.
The book, based on the couple’s award-winning podcast of the same name, was already proving popular before its release, with customers reporting crashes on Amazon while trying to pre-order a copy.
Pre-order books also sold out in WH Smith.
Chris, who took part in last year’s BBC Strictly Come Dancing making it to the semi-finals with professional dancer Karen Hauer, took to Twitter to thanks fans for their support.
He said: “Was fully prepared for it to be some kind of mistake and we wouldn’t even be in the chart ... but there we are. Thanks again to all the SMA’s out there. We love you.”
Chris and Rosie launched their podcast last year to discuss the trials and pitfalls of marriage, share stories and answer listener questions, amassing a huge fan base over more than 80 episodes.
The couple were also due to tour the show this year, with dates moved to 2021 as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.
In another message, Chris added: “It’s absolutely blowing our minds how many of you have bought, and are enjoying our book.
"Thank you so much. We are up there in the book charts with the big boys and girls and it’s incredible. Thank you thank you thank you.”
