Coca-Cola's Christmas truck tour cancelled for first time in a decade

Coca-cola’s Christmas truck will not be touring this year due to the pandemic, it will be the first time in 10 years that the event is cancelled.

The company announced on Twitter that the Coca-cola Christmas truck will not be touring the UK this year due to the pandemic.

Much to the disappointment of fans, the Christmas truck will not be making it’s annual tour, which has previously included visits to Boldon Asda, this Christmas.

In a tweet, they said: “Due to current restrictions around the country, our Coca-Cola Christmas Truck Tour won’t go ahead this year.

“We know it’s disappointing, but we’ll continue to share special Christmas moments throughout the festive season.

“We look forward to seeing you next year!”

People took to Twitter to share their disappointed and sadness that the truck wouldn’t be doing its rounds this year.

One fan said: “2020 is the year fun died” and another added, “Christmas is cancelled.”

The 14-tonne lorry, decorated with fairy lights would usually give out free cans of the fizzy drink over the Christmas period stopping at shopping centres and supermarkets.

Coca-Cola have however promised “fun will never die”, before adding there was still “a lot to look forward to”.

Responding to one Twitter user, the company said: “We’ve got loads of festive treats to come, including our Christmas ad! Hold on to your Santa hats for now…”

Last year the truck visited 19 locations, including the North East, throughout November and December before making its final stop in London.
