South Shields favourite Colmans is offering customers the chance to enjoy fish and chips at home as it launches its online ordering service.

The popular fish and chip business has said the offer comes as it enters the first stage of its phased reopening following closure during the coronavirus lockdown.

And keen customers will be able to pre-order their food from Monday, May 11, when the online order system goes live, so that they can select a time slot for the coming week.

In the interests of safety, the shop itself will be closed to customers with no walk-in-and-wait service.

At 10am each Monday Colmans will make delivery and collection slots available to book for the Thursday, Friday and Saturday of that week with the business urging customers to book early to avoid disappointment. ‬

Colmans is not accepting cash payments.

In a statement on its website the Colmans team said: “We’ve been missing you and judging by all the lovely messages we’ve received, many of our customers are missing us too.

“Following government guidelines, we are offering an online home delivery and click & collect service from our Ocean Road branch ‪starting Thursday, May 14, with the online order system going live on Monday, May 11 to preorder a time slot for the coming week.

“As this is the first stage of a phased reopening, there will just be the four of us working in the shop.

“Because of this - and to enable us to adhere to the strictest safety standards - there are a limited number of home delivery and click and collect slots available.

“Thank you for your continued support.

“We can’t wait to serve you again and hope that our fish and chips will give you a little taste of normal life to enjoy in the meantime.”
