Police have released a photo of an unknown woman who left hospital without treatment after collapsing near Marsden Grotto in the hope of identifying her.

Northumbria Police are continuing to appeal for information in an attempt to trace the woman so officers can check her welfare.

The woman, who is around 46-years-old, was admitted to hospital on Tuesday, September 22, after collapsing near Marsden Grotto at around 1pm.

Officers say she later left the hospital without receiving the necessary treatment and they are keen to trace her to check her welfare.

The force have now shared a photo of the woman during the incident on social media, in the hope that someone may recognise her.

Sharing the image, Northumbria Police urged members of the public to come forward if they recognised the woman.

A force spokeswoman said: "Do you recognise this woman? We have released an image of an unknown woman who left hospital without receiving the necessary treatment in the hope of identifying her.

“This latest request follows extensive inquiries and a previous public appeal.

“With no other usable pictures available, we have now taken the decision to release an image of the woman in the ambulance in the hope someone may recognise her and get in touch with police.”

The woman is described as 5ft 7ins tall, of medium build with dark hair that is slightly longer than shoulder length.

The woman, or anyone who knows her, is asked to contact police via 101 quoting reference number 687 of 22/09/20.
