"This show is something we've wanted to do for a long time."

South Shields comedian Chris Ramsey has also been confirmed as the programme’s host, meaning that the new series will place the North East firmly in the limelight.

Announcing the news on Twitter back in March, the girls said: “Beyond excited to announce Chris Ramsey as the host of Little Mix The Search. South Shields takeover on BBC One.”

Made up of seven 80-minute episodes, the show will follow the highs and lows of the new bands before a winner is chosen.
