Jade Thirlwall and Joe McElderry help to raise more than £1,000 for Customs House in celebrity quiz

South Shields stars Jade Thirlwall and Joe McElderry were among a host of famous faces who took part in the celebrity quiz which was live streamed from the Customs House Facebook page.

The event called Davey Hopper’s Late Night Pot Noodle Game Show, took place on on Sunday, April 19,with the aim of providing some light-hearted relief during the coronavirus lockdown.

Hosted by Dave Hopper, it featured a host of famous faces including; Customs House executive director Ray Spencer, Jamie Lambert from Collabro, and comedian Jason Cook.

BBC Newcastle radio presenters Steph Finnon, Gilly Hope, Alfie Joey, Steffen Peddie and BBC Look North presenter Jeff Brown also joined the line up.

Those watching on the live stream were able to take part in answering the questions by leaving their answers in the comments for the chance to win a prize.

And their support has managed to raise an impressive £1,200 for the Customs House during this difficult time.

In a post on its Facebook page the Customs House said: “Thank you to everyone who took part in our quiz last night and to the special guests that gave up their time to help us to raise money for a cause that’s so dear to all of us; The Customs House.

“We managed to raise over £1,200.

“Thank you also to the team behind the scenes who helped to put this together and to the kind businesses who donated prizes; Ocean Beach Pleasure Park, South Shields, Frances Marshall, Colmans Seafood Temple, Arbeia Bar South Shields, Jordan Embleton Photography and Jen Stevens.

The Customs House, which recently celebrated its 25th anniversary, is a charity and relies on donations and funding so that it can keep running in the borough.

As a result of the coronavirus lockdown its events are being rescheduled and booked tickets are being transferred to the new dates which can be found on the Customs House website.
