Jarrow care home welcomes Santander bank customer to join them on Christmas Day
Palmersdene Care Home on Grange Road West, has invited older people in South Tyneside who would be alone at Christmas to spend the day with residents on Christmas Day.

Hide AdStaff were contacted by the King Street branch of Santander Bank in South Shields to see if they would have a space for their regular customer Alfie Clark to come and join them.
Bank staff are visited each day Mr Clark who likes to pops into the bank to enjoy the company of colleagues working there.

Hide AdThey contacted Palmersdene who offered him a space at their Christmas celebration as part of their mission to ensure no one is alone this festive season.
On the day – which is free of charge - the guests will enjoy a traditional Christmas dinner and buffet tea, along with a day of festive activities.

Hide AdGuests will even be picked up in a taxi on Christmas morning and will be taken home at the end of the day.
Megan Graves, deputy manager at Palmersdene, said: “It is an absolute pleasure to have Alfie for Christmas lunch.
“We are so pleased Santander put him forward and we are able to have him with us so he is not alone at Christmas.

Welcoming Alfie to join the home on Christmas Day is just one of a number of acts that have earned the home a reputation for its kindness and quality of care.
Earlier this year the home achieved an overall performance rating score of 934 out of 1,000 and 890 out of 1,000 by the residents and their families highly in the Your Care Rating survey which asked the residents to comment on how they are looked after.
