Jet2 launches extra flights to Greece as holidaymakers hold out hope for 2021 getaway

Jet2.com and Jet2holidays has added more flights and holidays to Zante, Crete (Heraklion) and Rhodes from Newcastle Airport for later in the year, following demand from customers wanting to enjoy a much-needed break.

Although Transport Secretary Grant Shapps has said that it is ‘too soon’ to book a holiday abroad or in the UK, many people are holding out hope that the fast rollout of the vaccination programme will enable them to enjoy a holiday towards the end of 2021.

And Jet2 boss, Steve Heapy, reassured passengers that their ATOL protected package holidays will be refunded quickly if travel restrictions ultimately prevent them from going away.

Mr Heapy, CEO of Jet2.com and Jet2holidays, said: “There continues to be enormous pent-up demand from local holidaymakers, who want nothing more than to get away to the sunshine and enjoy their well-deserved holidays.

"As always, we listen to what customers want and react accordingly, so that we can provide them with the holiday choices that they want.

"Extending the summer season to Greece means we are doing exactly that; giving customers more opportunity to get away and enjoy a much-needed holiday.

"As a result of the assurance that customers get from our award-winning flights and ATOL protected package holidays, we will be continuing to respond to the demand so that when travel opens up, we can take customers from Newcastle Airport to their favourite holiday hotspots.”

The new flights from Newcastle Airport include:

Zante –The season is extended until the end of October for the first time.

Rhodes – Flights will be operating until mid-November.

Crete (Heraklion) – Flights will be running until November 9.

Jet2.com was also recognised by the UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) as the only UK airline to promptly provide refunds.
