The series – which was made with coronavirus guidelines in place – sees those who make it into groups live together and gain access to Little Mix’s inner circle, including vocal coaches, song writers and producers.

The seven part series will then follow the groups as they battle it out to be crowned the winner and join Little Mix on their next tour.

The first episode will premier on BBC1 at 7pm on Saturday, September 26, starting with Little Mix putting together a boy band.

And the show will place South Shields firmly in the limelight, with South Shields comedian Chris Ramsey as its host.

Announcing the news on Twitter in March, the girls said: “Beyond excited to announce Chris Ramsey as the host of Little Mix The Search.

"South Shields takeover on BBC One.”

Back in 2011, Jade Thirlwall, Perrie Edwards, Leigh-Anne Pinnock and Jesy Nelson all separately auditioned for The X Factor.

As solo acts, they didn’t make it past the bootcamp stage, but the judges saw their potential and put them together to make a girl band, Little Mix.

They became the first group to win the competition – and nine years on, they have sold a staggering 50 million records worldwide.
