Little Mix's Jade Thirlwall backs Sanddancer clothing brand at South Shields FC home game
South Shields lass Jade Thirlwall was spotted celebrating her heritage in a Sanddancer hoodie this weekend.
The Little Mix star was snapped wearing a maroon sweatshirt, designed by local brand Sanddancer Clothing on a visit to Mariners Park on Saturday, March 14.
Jade was supporting her hometown club in their match against FC United of Manchester, which ended with the home side winning 5-3.
The game saw 3,274 people turn out – including 600 in the away end – as Premier League, EFL, Barclays FA Women’s Super League and FA Women’s Championship all agreed games across the country should be cancelled until April 3 at the earliest.
The singer shared videos and photos of her and family members enjoying the game on her Instagram account and was photographed with a South Shields Football Club (SSFC) supporter while proudly wearing the Sanddancer brand.
Its T-shirts, sweatshirts and canvas tote bags all feature the well-known colloquialism Sanddancer – used to describe those who hail from the seaside town.
Initially going on sale at The Word, Andy has now teamed up with the football club to sell his items at Mariners Park.
“That match was one of the biggest games in the calendar,” said Andy, who hoped to use the brand to promote the area.
“It’s lovely to see Jade wearing one of our sweatshirts, she’s a true local lass and it’s great to get the brand out there. It’s good for South Shields and the whole region, it all works hand in hand.”
The brand has taken off since it hit the shops and has recently partnered with South Shields Surf School as it launches the new spring range.
“I have had some unbelievable support,” Andy added.
“The response from the Sanddancer community has been fantastic. It’s good to see people getting on board and to see Jade repping it too.”
