Philippa Gibbons launched her “12 Days of Pipmas” challenge in November, pledging to create a dozen daring Christmas make-up looks as we head closer towards December 25.

The 21-year-old, who works at Blush & Blow Salon in West Boldon, has so far transformed into a gingerbread man, Christmas pudding, snowman and this year’s John Lewis advert character Edgar the Dragon.

Philippa, who studied at Northumberland College, said some of her “dream” make-up looks are still to come before the challenge is up.

She said: “My inspiration has come from all places this year, John Lewis advert, Christmas foods and decorations.

“The reactions have been amazing! Mostly people laughing at my gingerbread-shaped head, but I also had positive feedback from John Lewis themselves too!

“I like to use materials that aren’t just make-up to create my looks, like gingerbread biscuits and chocolate for the pudding look.”

Philippa said she loves to create looks that are different – and that the weirder they are, the better. Her time at college also included work on prosthetics and special effects.
