DiN is run by Wendy Carroll and Ian Boddy – and together, the pair thought up a way to give back to a charity which has helped the local community during the ongoing coronavirus crisis.
The outbreak of the virus has taken a huge toll across industries worldwide, including live music.
To support acts, music platform Bandcamp launched ‘Bandcamp Fridays’ – a monthly event which saw the company waive its revenue from sales of artists’ merchandise to support them directly instead.
And for this month’s Bandcamp Friday Wendy, from Sunderland, and Ian, a composer from South Shields, decided to donate the profits of any sales DiN makes to Sunderland Community Soup Kitchen.
Wendy, a photographer and artist, said: “We both wanted to support a charity within our local community with the fundraising idea linked with the music platform Bandcamp.
“We chose Sunderland Community Soup Kitchen because it provides a much-needed service for people who are struggling within our local area.”
On Friday, using the discount code ‘soupkitchen’ at DiN’s Bandcamp page here will give you 10% off your merchandise purchase.
