Coopsie, who lives in South Shields with her loved ones, has brought so much joy to owners Pam and Paul Cooper, and sons Jack and James, throughout her life.

But the beloved pet and her family still owe a thank-you to a mystery woman, who came to the dog’s aid when she was hit by a car while only a puppy.

Mum-of-two Pam launched a renewed appeal with the Gazette last month to find the lady – known only as Gill or Jill – who brought Coopsie to safety after the incident in 2006.

The couple’s son Jack, who was 13 at the time, was out walking the dog when she got away from him and into the road.

Coopsie suffered a collapsed lung, but was nursed back to health after the woman’s quick intervention meant she quickly received veterinary care.

A mischievous pooch back in the day, Coopsie has calmed down a bit in her twilight years to become a more reserved dog.

Pam added: “She’s just awesome.”
