Pets' Corner: Meet some of the North East's beloved animal companions as readers share their pet pictures

You hardly need an excuse to post a cute picture of your pet on social media – so to beat those January blues, we called on the readers to flood our pages with adorable images of their animals.

And the results really did bring some sunshine to our day.

Hundreds of readers took the opportunity to introduce us to their beloved best friends, from cats and dogs to a chicken, horses and a tortoise!
