The home of the Mariners will continue to be known as 1st Cloud Arena for the 2022-23 campaign after the company agreed to take the option of renewing its stadium naming rights for a third year.

With the club currently battling for promotion from the Pitching In Northern Premier League in this first post-COVID regulations season, this marks the first major partnership renewal ahead of the next campaign.

1st Cloud Accountancy and Technology Solutions managing director and founder Steven Tuckwell said the deal had been good for both parties: “The profile of the club not only locally but nationally has increased massively over the past two years and with the recent investment at leadership level and infrastructure, has helped boost our brand and business in the region as we become a household name for accountancy and technology services.

“It is therefore a no-brainer to continue to sponsor the club for a third year.

“We look forward to our successful partnership moving forward as we all grow together.”

South Shields FC executive director Glen Stidolph, the most recent addition to the leadership team at the club, said: “As we and other sports properties emerge post-COVID and try our best to bounce back after two extremely difficult years, it is invaluable to have companies such as 1 st Cloud supporting us, against a background of the worst cost of living increases in decades.

“Our focus now will be on working closely with all of our partners to ensure an investment in the club is aligned with their business needs.”

The naming rights agreement started in 2020, with 1st Cloud showing commitment to the club during a time of great uncertainty following the premature end to the 2019-20 season.

After navigating a challenging campaign, the company continued its support into the 2021-22 season, which is set for an exciting climax as Shields target promotion, with vital fixtures set to take place at 1st Cloud Arena in the coming weeks.
