Tednology Christmas Lights has come all the way from Cyprus to South Shields to bring festivities to Heron Drive.

Stephen Edwards, who works for the Royal Air Force, is the brains behind the idea.

He first began to decorate his house with lights when he was given sets of them by a family member. After a few years, he saw a video online where lights danced to music and he wanted to give that a go.

He used to decorate his home in Cyprus much to the delight of his two daughters Lucy, 5, and Lilly, 7, and over the years, his display has got even bigger.

This year, he wanted to bring his display to South Shields for the first time.

Stephen has decorated his dad’s home, added music and has even had to use some of the neighbour's front gardens when he ran out of space.

Stephen said: “The neighbours asked to see what it was going to look like beforehand and they’re happy for us to do it.

“My dad loves it. My friends have been around to see it and everyone is over the moon with the way it looks.

People see it when they’re driving past and I’m happy for everyone to come along to enjoy it.”

The carers who work at Clasper Court, a sheltered housing across the road, have also enjoyed watching the display.

Stephen said: “It seemed to cheer them up. They love it because they saw me put it all up and when I finally switched it on, they were gobsmacked by it.

He hopes to continue improving his display year-on-year.

He said: “Next year, I’m going bigger but remove some older items – we might need more space.”

The display is completely free for the public to see and includes a variety of lights and songs.

Show one plays at 5pm and 7pm.

Show two plays at 6pm and 8pm.

Each show lasts around 25 minutes each, every day in December.

There is a small red button to press to hear the music while the show is playing.
