The case against a pensioner who denied committing a sex offence has been dismissed at crown court.

Michael Barber, 73, of Lincoln Way, Jarrow, was facing one count of inciting a girl to engage in sexual activity.

Mr Barber pleaded not guilty to the allegation earlier this year when he appeared at South Tyneside Magistrates’ Court.

The case was dismissed on Monday, November 16, when the prosecution offered no evidence at Newcastle Crown Court and a not guilty verdict was recorded.
