Teenager missing from South Shields has been found safe and well

A 14-year-old girl who was missing from South Shields has been found safe and well, police have confirmed.

Kiera Mctavy was last seen at an address in South Shields at 7pm on Saturday, January 16.

A social media appeal by family members and friends has been shared thousands of times and her family and Northumbria Police have now confirmed the 14-year-old has been found safe and well.

A Northumbria Police spokesman confirmed earlier on Sunday, January 17, that officers were carrying out inquiries to locate Kiera.
