TikTok star praises South Shields as he enjoys fish and chips from famous Colmans
A TikTok star with almost half a million followers has shared clips of his holiday which included a trip to sunny Souter Lighthouse and fish and chips and Colmans.
The Rotherham dad-of-two, who goes by the name Big Chubby on TikTok and social media, is known for sharing videos of family life, jokes and his motivational speeches.
As lockdown restrictions eased, Wayne Duplock and wife Paula headed to the Grand Hotel in Seaburn for a much-needed trip away.
Sharing clips for them enjoying the pool and admiring the sea view from his hotel room window, the social media star praised the city and its seafront.
He even turned to his 436,000 followers for tips on what to do when he visited the area, with dozens telling him to make the most of the North East’s beaches in the nice weather.
‘Vlogging’ (video blogging) their trip, Wayne and Paula headed to South Shield’s Souter Lighthouse on the recommendation of his followers.
"This place is absolutely beautiful, you've got the lighthouse, the ocean, freshly cut grass – it's so peaceful," he said. “When you’re busy and you’ve got the stresses and strains of life sometime it’s just nice to be somewhere like this and clear you’re head.”
Big Chubby also shared videos on TikTok of a visit to South Shields town where he visited Ocean Beach Pleasure Park and the famous Colemans Fish and Chip restaurant on Ocean Road – again based on his follow's recommendations.
He said to his followers: “Come to South Shields and try Colmans fish and chip shop, well hear I am guys lets give it a bash.”
Wayne, who spoke about his lifestyle change, steered away from a batter fish and instead ordered the grilled fish, with a ‘couple of cheeky chips’ and some mushy peas.
And following his trip to the North East, Big Chubby, who is known for his signature phrase Shoobydoo, admits he can’t wait to return for another holiday to Seaburn.
He said: "It's one of the best places we have visited and we have done a lot of travelling. I think it's turned into our number one place to visit. I am very much looking forward to returning."
