Daniel Curry, 13, of Fellgate, Jarrow, is delighted after receiving a generous donation from the Chloe and Liam Together Forever Trust to help him make his own music.

The talented schoolboy has had quite a year, making it to the final of the SoundWaves singing competition at the O2 Academy in Newcastle, taking part in Unstoppable UK and being in the final four of the Young Performer of the Year category at the 2019 Best of South Tyneside awards.

The band, made up of Lewis Teesdale, 17, on drums, Laighton Potts, 13, on guitar, Brandon Ward on keyboard, Megan Hillier, 17, on vocals and bass and 14-year-old Sophie Davis, vocals and rhythm guitar, want to focus on writing and recording their own material.

The grant from the Trust will cover the costs of hiring a recording studio and fund some rehearsal time at the Customs House.

Daniel, a member of the Own Your Stage singing group, also set up his own open mic night and talent showcase, Spotlight, to give local young people a place to perform on a monthly basis.
