Person in the sea and kayaker spark calls to emergency services in South Shields

South Shields Volunteer Life Brigade (SSVLB) and Sunderland Coastguard Rescue Team were asked to join police and paramedics just after 7.30pm yesterday, Sunday, October 18, when a man was seen going into the water at Sandhaven Beach, close to the New Sundial pub.
A spokesperson for the SSVLB said: “As team members arrived we were informed by police that they were escorting him back to the car park.

Hide Ad"He was placed into their car and checked by ambulance crew.”
Earlier in the day, just after 1.10pm, SSVLB was called out to Marsden following fears for a kayaker.
The spokesperson added: “The team members were tasked to the Marsden Grotto after concerns for a kayaker some distance from shore.
"Team members used binoculars to spot the kayak who appeared fine and in no danger."
