Police hunt driver whose car overturned on South Shields roundabout

Police are hunting a driver who fled the scene of a collision.

Officers were called to the John Reid Road, at its junction with King George Road, South Shields, at 3.15am on Sunday.

A car was reported to be on its roof after mounting the roundabout.

The driver had fled the scene by the time police arrived.

An investigation has now been launched to find the driver, and inquiries are ongoing.

Anyone who witnessed the collision or has information on the driver’s identity is asked to call police on 101.
