The call comes after a number of homes have been targeted by criminals who have managed to gain access through open windows and doors.

“We want to remind people to make sure that doors and windows are always kept securely locked. It is also important to remind family members including children to ensure porches, windows and doors are not left open or unlocked when the room is unoccupied or overnight. If windows are being left open make sure they are not left wide open and can be locked in place.
“Taking a few moments to consider whether homes are secure could prove crucial in helping prevent someone from being broken into.”
