Police say no other vehicles were involved in Chichester Road crash
Northumbria Police have sent a tweet in response to speculation about a car crash on Chichester Road in South Shields.
Police were called at around 4.15am on, Friday, January 24, to Chichester Road, where a white Audi S3 had hit an end-terrace house.
The male driver was pronounced dead at the scene and a female passenger was taken to hospital with life threatening injuries. Another male passenger was found by police at hospital with serious injuries.
Northumbria Police detained an 18-year-old man in connection with events prior to the crash, but he has now been released.
They tweeted: “There has been lots of speculation on the fatal collision in #SouthShields this morning. We want to confirm that we do not believe any other vehicles were involved. An 18yo man was arrested earlier today but he has since been released and will be treated as a witness.”
