Google searches for health insurance and best places to live in Scotland increase after election results

Google has seen an increase in searches for health insurance, emigrating, moving to Scotland and best places to live in Scotland following the election.

An increasing number of people have been searching for health insurance and moving to Scotland after the Conservative's landmark election victory.

Tories won with a landslide of 364 seats to Labour’s 203.

Labour had warned that the Conservatives would 'put the NHS up for sale' leading to privatisation fears in the lead up to the election.

Google search trends show increases in the number of searches for health insurance

Boris Johnson categorically denied this and pledged to increase the number of nurses and hospitals in the UK.

Despite this Google searches for 'health insurance' shot up from around 10.10pm on Thursday night, shortly after the exit polls predicted Conservative victory.

Search for health insurance peaked at around 5:04am. Related search queries included 'how much is health insurance?' which increased by 100% and UK health insurance, searches of which increased by 170%.

Just after the exit polls were revealed at 10pm last night google searches for 'emigrating' spiked, with a large increase in people in the UK googling details on emigrating to Ireland, New Zealand and Canada.

And after a good night for the SNP Brits took to Google to research 'moving to Scotland' in the early hours of Thursday morning, with the most searches at 4.30am.

There was also a 'breakout' in searches for 'best places to live in Scotland' over the past 24 hours, meaning there was more than a 5,000% increase in the number of searches for the subject.
